My name is Gustavo Benavides and I’m a Peruvian UX/UI designer based in NYC, where I’ve recently finished my Product Design BFA at Parsons. During my studies, I’ve had the chance to engage in multiple long-term projects, both academically and professionally, in the fields of graphic design, industrial design and most extensively, digital product design.
I’ve always felt an immeasurable attraction towards products and their relationship with humans. However, my focus on digital products intensified during covid, when me and my roommate, a software engineer, launched a social media app for our friends just for the sake of it. Find it here. What began as a hobby ended up becoming the foundation of my career.
Besides design there are three other creative practices I’m absolutely obsessed with: rap music, streetwear, and film.
I was introduced to design during high school, with IGCSE courses that explored manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing and laser cutting.
I initially decided to pursue a bachelor degree in architecture, however, during my sophomore year I realized my passion for products trascended it.
I transferred to Product Design at Parsons, where I first focused on industrial design and then redirected towards digital products.
